HILLSBORO - Don R. Wurster, age 75 years, of Hillsboro, Wisconsin, passed away on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at St. Clare Meadows Care Center in Baraboo.

He was born on May 10, 1945 in Madison, Wisconsin, and at the age of seven months was adopted by Theo and Leona (Switz) Wurster. Don graduated from the Hillsboro High School in 1963 and from UW-Platteville in 1968 with a degree in Music Education.

Don taught music at Brookwood High School, near Ontario, and in Galena, Illinois. He later worked at Ray-O-Vac and for several years at their family-owned Wurster Shoe Store in Hillsboro, where he was also an active member of the Businessmen’s Club. He later worked for many years at the Ho Chunk Casino near Lake Delton in Guest Services.

Don was united in marriage to Laurene Sloniker on September 30, 1978 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro.

He had a great love for music, played in the She and He Haugh Band and performed with the Cabaret Singers. He was an active member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro and sang in their Church Choir. Don had a servant mentality and loved to help when he could.

Survivors include his wife, Laurene and son, Matthew, both of Hillsboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents;and sister, Christine Blum.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, with Rev. Conrad Prell officiating. Interment will be in the Mount Vernon Cemetery in Hillsboro at a later date.
