A series of gravestones in Mount Vernon Cemetery were knocked over last week, and authorities are asking the public for any information regarding the perpetrators. City of Hillsboro Offers Reward for Information on Cemetery Vandals

Between the hours of 4:30P.M. on Tuesday, May 11, and 11:30A.M. on Wednesday, May 12, a series of gravestones were knocked over, with some damaged beyond repair. At this time, it is not known if the perpetrator is a single individual or multiple individuals.

Photos posted to the Vernon County Crime Stoppers’ Facebook page on Wednesday, May 12, illustrates some of the damages done to the gravestones. Some of the impacted gravestones date back to the early 1930s.

Hillsboro Police Chief Pat Clark is asking for anyone who may have information regarding this incident of vandalism to please contact the Hillsboro Police Department at (608) 489-2800. The City of Hillsboro has offered a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons involved in this incident.
