Hillsboro - Barbara Jean (Bartels) Munroe, age 77 years, of Hillsboro, Wisconsin, went home to be with the Lord after a long illness on Sunday, February 19, 2023.
She was born on March 10, 1945 to John F.W. and Lucille (Neumann) Bartels in Rock Island, Illinois. She grew to adulthood in Rock Island and was a graduate of Rock Island High School in 1963.
She worked at the Family Restaurant and the Star Sandwich Shop. Barbara drove a school bus for many years in Lumberton, TX, Two Rivers, WI, Wisconsin Rapids and Rock, Michigan.
Barbara was united in marriage to Charles Robert Munroe on April 24, 1984 in Two Rivers, Wisconsin.
She became a first responder and an in-home care provider while in Rock, Michigan. She loved spending time with family and playing games, cards, dice, putting jigsaw puzzles together and going to Church and her Bible Studies.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Munroe of Hillsboro; children, Denise (Sam) Doyle of Hillsboro, Michelle (Aaron) Joosten of Wisconsin Rapids, Rebecca (Brad) Muller of Hillsboro, Robert Munroe of Escanaba, Michigan, Ruth Ann (John) Arndt of Perkins, Michigan, Roberta Welch of Escanaba, Bobby (Regina) Poore of Perkins and Jim (Leslie) Munroe of Hannaville, Michigan; 30 Grandchildren and 30+ Great Grandchildren; and siblings, Bob (Peggy) Bartels of Hampton, Illinois, Jim (Joy) Bartels of Moline, Illinois and Karen Puklin of Castle Rock, Colorado; several nieces, nephews and cousins, along with friends she called her bonus family.
She was preceded in death by her Parents; a daughter, Laurie Farmer and sister, Elizabeth Harland.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 27, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the Picha Funeral Home in Hillsboro, with Rev. Alan Tripp officiating. A time of visitation will be on Monday from 9 to 11 a.m. Lunch will be provided following at the Firemens Community Center in Hillsboro.
