STOUGHTON, WI - Betty Isabel (Diny) Burress left this world on December 19, 2021, at the age of 63 following a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Betty was born to the late John Martin Diny and Margaret Rose (Fritsch) Diny on May 8, 1958. She was a 1976 graduate of Hillsboro High School. She met her soulmate, Hank Burress, in April, 1992, and they married on July 16, 1994. She was previously married to Kevin Ennis, and they remained good friends throughout her life.

Betty maintained an in-home daycare for young children for 26 years. For those who were blessed to have children in her daycare, she provided countless children the best possible childhood. Her love for children in her care was unmatched. She was a big advocate for letting kids play outside and get dirty, and they all loved and still remember those days.

Betty was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all. She especially loved her family, friends, her daycare children, and Christmas. Betty’s first love—family— truly meant everything to her, and her family knows she would do anything for anyone. Her love for Hank kept her smiling until the very end and filled her life and last days with so much love, joy, and peace. Her grandchildren were everything to her. She was so proud of each of them and would tell them to “be awesome” every day. Not only did she love her family, but she extended her family to include special friends. She had her “fab five” who were truly blessed to feel like a part of her family. Betty’s love for Christmas could be seen and experienced in her home from Halloween to Valentine’s Day each year. Her Christmas spirit was nothing short of magic. Her home and the parties she and Hank hosted made for some of the most special memories and traditions each year.

Survivors include her husband, Hank Burress; sons, Jake (Lexie Maher) Ennis of Edgerton and Derek Burress of Mauston; daughter, Shaunna Burress of Baraboo; brothers, John Diny (Linda) of Reedsburg, Pete Diny of Middleton, and Leroy (Helen Chan) Diny of Los Angeles, California; sisters, Theresa (Richard) Nemec of Hillsboro and Carol (Bob) Coppernol of Endeavor; nieces/nephews: Tammy (Lonnie) Grage, Brian (Holly), Bob (Liz), and Ben (Mary) Nemec, Ashley (David) Atkinson, Crystal (Matt) Peterson, Jody Diny, Sam, Charlie (Dawn), Tristian, Jordan, and Norah Coppernol, Jessie (Luis) Alarcon, Sara (Mark) Alexander, Misty Halverson (special friend), Nick (Lindsay) Diny, Felicia (Ryan Olson) Diny, Lindsay McIntosh, and Dylan Eades; grandchildren: Kyrah, Adrianna, Anya, and Kylie Burress, Camdan, James, and Kingston Franklin, and James Ennis (Megan Goldade, special daughter-in-law).

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Margaret Diny; brother, Dave Diny; son, Chad Burress; and nephew, Joey Snyder.

Betty helped to plan her celebration of life, and she would love for you to join in remembering her. The celebration is scheduled for Saturday, January 15, at the American Legion in Stoughton as an open house from 12 noon to 3:30 pm. Speakers will be heard from noon to 1:00, followed by a meal. “Come as you are; you are perfect,” is what Betty said while planning.
