Oshkosh - Steven Kent “Steve” Unbehaun, 64, of Oshkosh, WI, died Saturday, April 29, 2023.

He was born May 19, 1958, in Richland Center, WI, the son of George and Evelyn (Hynek) Unbehaun.

Steve received a Bachelor of Science degree in Natural Resources from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. For most of his adult life, Steve was employed as a supervisor by Clack Plastics, taking an early retirement cash out option. Early retirement allowed Steve to travel, and his journeys included driving Route 66 and attending the Kentucky Derby. Eventually Steve went back to work. This time at Menard’s in the garden department, which was a good fit for him as he loved the outdoors. Steve enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and gardening. He found pleasure in visiting breweries and wineries, learning the processes involved, and then delighted in making his own beer and wine. A lifelong sports enthusiast, he was passionate about all things Badgers, Brewers, Bucks, and Packers. Steve was a voracious reader, particularly science fiction. He also found joy in listening to music, attending concerts and collecting record albums.    

Survivors include his sister, Diana (Doug) Marshall of Hillsboro, WI; sister, Ronda (Howard) Cannon of Chelsea, AL; nieces and nephews: Sara (Don) Baumstark of Celina, OH; Emily (Jason) Repka of Reedsburg, WI; KC and Payton Cannon of Chelsea, AL; great nephews: Max and Drew Baumstark of Celina, OH; Taylor and Talan Langer of Reedsburg, WI; Rylan Repka of Reedsburg, WI; other cousins, relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his father and mother, George and Evelyn Unbehaun of Yuba/Hillsboro, WI.

A celebration of life for Steve will be held with a time of visitation from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, June 9, 2023 at the Picha Funeral Home, 908 Prairie Avenue, Hillsboro, WI. Interment will be in Mt. Vernon Cemetery in Hillsboro.
