Hillsboro - Evelyn Ellen “Ev” Unbehaun, 94, of Hillsboro, Wisconsin, died Monday, December 12, 2022, in her home.
She was born January 5, 1928, in the Town of Henrietta, Richland Co., Wl, the daughter of Albin and Martha (Urban) Hynek. She married George Unbehaun in June, 1952 in Richland Center, Wl.
Evelyn was employed by the Yuba Post Office, Country Style Cookin’ Restaurant and Hillsboro High School, not retiring until she was 80 years old. She was a wonderful cook, enjoyed playing cards, reading People magazine to keep up with Hollywood gossip, and doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles. Evelyn loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She liked to travel and was particularly fond of one trip she took with her sister, Delores and her niece, Cheri, to Hawaii where she went paragliding. Evelyn was also a volunteer for Cesky Den for many years making countless kolaches. She also volunteered her time by working at city elections as a poll worker.
Survivors include her daughter, Diana (Doug) Marshall of Hillsboro, Wl; son, Steve Unbehaun of Oshkosh, Wl; daughter, Ronda (Howard) Cannon of Chelsea, AL; grandchildren: Sara (Don) Baumstark of Celina, OH; Emily (Jason) Repka of Reedsburg, Wl; KC and Payton Cannon of Chelsea, AL; great grandchildren: Max and Drew Baumstark of Celina, OH; Taylor and Talan Langer of Reedsburg, Wl; Rylan Repka of Reedsburg, Wl; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was predeceased by her husband, George Unbehaun of Richland Center, Wl; her parents; three brothers: Robert, Harry and Ron Hynek; two sisters: Delores Sandmire and Marvalene Winchester; and an infant sister; sisters-in law and brothers-in-law.
Visitation of remembrance for Evelyn will be from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Picha Funeral Home, 908 Prairie Avenue, Hillsboro, Wl. Interment will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery, Hillsboro, Wl in Spring 2023 for family.
Memorials may be given in her name to the Cesky Den Committee or St. Joseph’s Memorial Foundation, Hillsboro Wl.
