Stuart E. Thayer, 71 of LaValle passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at his home surrounded by his family.

Stuart grew up in the peaceful valley alongside his older brothers Merv and Jim, his father Ed and mother June. He graduated from Royal High School in 1973 and continued his education at WWTC and received a degree for Animal Nutrition. In his younger years he enjoyed swimming at the swimming hole, snowmobiling, and going up north fishing with friends and family.

He worked at Mt Tabor feed mill as an Animal Nutritionist and was most proud of the organic chicken business he brought into the mill. But his real passion in life was playing the piano, he started at the young age of 5 years old playing at home with his dad and grandpa John and continued through his life with bands, Prairie Fire, Prairie Dogs, Maggie May and Heartland Country and many others.

Stuart is survived by his mother June, wife Paula (Jean), children Helen (Duane), Jacob (Dana) and Emily (Wayne), grandchildren Brian, Lily, Ava, Jadin, Samantha, Madelyn, Daniel, and great-grandchildren Raelynn (Birdy), John, Faithlynn, Noah, Simon, Tamar and many more family and friends.

Stuart was proceeded in death by, his father Ed, brothers Merv and Jim. Father-in-law Paul, mother-in-law Carol, brother-in-law Eric, nephew Cody.

A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, August 24, 2026, 11:00 AM at The Gospel Hall, 510 Division Street, Ontario.  Ronald Doll will officiate. Burial will be in the Cal-Day Cemetery. Paul Thieman will be singing a special song at the cemetery.

Relatives and friends are invited for a time of visitation on Sunday from 1:00 PM until 4:00 PM at the Smith-Nelson Funeral Home, 112 East South Railroad Street, Kendall and on Monday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.  Online condolences can be offered by visiting www.sonnenburgfamilyfh.com
